Sandwich boards are a staple form of marketing for brick-and-mortar businesses, and Fabulous Frames & Art has several signs placed outside each of its four locations. However, many of these signs hadn't been updated in years and lacked visual impact. To help increase foot traffic, I developed fresh, engaging designs to better capture the attention of passersby.

One of the most significant events hosted by Fabulous Frames & Art is its annual Charley Harper art show, which features a curated collection of Harper’s work gathered throughout the year. The event includes a free print giveaway and a special appearance by Charley's son, Brett Harper. Given its importance, the accompanying sandwich board needed a complete redesign.
To celebrate Charley Harper's legacy, I made his iconic male cardinal illustration the focal point of the design. The cardinal also appears in the background on a vinyl banner, reinforcing the theme. To add a thoughtful nod to Harper’s early career, I referenced Ford Times magazine, where many of his cover illustrations have gained a cult following. I even recreated the magazine’s original header font to tie the design back to this meaningful part of his artistic journey.
Halloween Sale
In addition to event signage, I created a new design for a seasonal Halloween sale—Fabulous Frames & Art’s first time launching this type of promotion. The sale focused on vintage horror and sci-fi movie posters, which heavily inspired the design. I selected a retro-style font reminiscent of classic film titles and customized the “W” with fangs to subtly reference Dracula.
The effort paid off—numerous customers mentioned that the “striking sign” in front of the store drew them in!
